Privacy Policy
Privacy, dignity, and care come first.
OurBible is built so people can read Scripture publicly while personal faith tools stay account-backed and private unless a user clearly chooses otherwise.
What We Collect
We collect the information needed to run the service: account details, sign-in records, reader settings, saved verses, notes, prayer requests, reading progress, group activity, and content a user submits. City and state data may be used to help people find local Bible study, prayer, fellowship, and community pages.
What Stays Private
Email addresses, passwords, sessions, reset tokens, notes, saved passages, journals, private prayer requests, reading progress, profile details, audit logs, and internal records are not public content. These items should not be rendered on public pages, included in sitemaps, or exposed to search engines.
Prayer Requests
Prayer requests are private by default. A request can only be considered for public view when the user intentionally selects public visibility and the request is approved. Public prayer content should avoid sensitive personal details about the user or other people.
Public Content
Public city pages, state pages, Bible pages, reading plan outlines, approved devotionals, approved community messages, and public location images may be visible to visitors and search engines. Users should not post private information they do not want public.
How We Use Information
- To provide Bible reading, search, study, prayer, fellowship, and local hub features.
- To protect accounts, prevent misuse, moderate public content, and maintain the platform.
- To improve the service without selling personal faith activity or private account content.
Security
We use role-based access, private-by-default records, password hashing, noindex rules for account areas, and separate OurBible tables to reduce exposure. No system is perfect, so users should avoid storing emergency information, highly sensitive identity details, or content that belongs with professional care.
Control and Requests
Users may ask for account help, correction, removal, or review of personal content. Some records may be retained when needed for security, legal compliance, moderation history, or platform protection.
